In Canada, the annual Inuit seal hunt has been a long-standing tradition as a rite of passage and a way of survival and income. However, the event has also faced extreme controversy between Canadians and Inuits. "Cycle" emphasizes we should not look at the seal hunt as an unnatural process but as one that does not disrupt the rest of the ecosystem. The Inuits are not the problem; instead, it is poaching, pollution and climate change.
Tightly intertwined with the Inuits' values are the well-being and preservation of other animals. They believe that humans are not superior to anything. While we are not insignificant to the planet, we are also not the central component of its identity.
